We are in the heart of Connecticut, where we give a nice chase of Pan Am Railways Train PL1, the local train out of Plainville Yard. For about 2 months, there has been a spool wire car sitting in Seymour at Kerite. Kerite loads the car with submarine cable and ships it out around the world. However, they only load a car once every 6 months or so, so a few people have been out here a couple of times with the hopes of catching this move. Who would want to wait another 6 months to see this when you can see it now, right? Anyway, something else of equal interest was the fact that the blue dipped GP40 354 was sitting in Waterbury for a week, with the idea that it was to go to the Housatonic via Derby Junction to help them with their work needs. Unfortunately, that fell through, so PL1 had to make a trip down to Waterbury to pick this engine up. In the process, the crew decided to make the lead engine face nose to nose with its mate. Why? I have no idea. Either way, we see a lite engine move as it heads back to Plainville. The first location we catch PL1 is at Hancock Dam. The engineer sees us and gives us a little horn to acknowledge our presence. From there, we move up to Terryville Tunnel. I am not sure how long it is, but the tunnel itself is on a straightaway and was built in 1910. As soon as the engines exit the tunnel, it clatters over the switch for the Terryville Loop and continues along the main.
